WHY I'M RUNNING
I am running for the future of Alhambra. As a mom raising kids in our great city, public safety is my top priority – I want to ensure our neighborhoods are protected from crime, and our streets are safe from reckless driving. I have a proven track record of delivering for our community, and I am running for Alhambra City Council to continue working on the issues that make our lives better.

COMBATING CRIME AND HOMELESSNESS
As a Public Works Director, I worked closely with law enforcement on initiatives meant to keep homelessness and crime off of our streets. I know firsthand the importance of allocating city funds to support our law enforcement to ensure that they are equipped with the tools they need to keep our city safe.
As a neighbor, I contribute to neighborhood safety by fostering a sense of community and promoting mutual vigilance among residents. That’s why I’m a strong advocate for strengthening our local neighborhood watches – public safety should be a community effort.

ENSURING COMMUNITY RESILIENCY AND PUBLIC SAFETY

As a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer, I have dedicated my career to ensuring the integrity and safety of our infrastructure by implementing robust designs with redundancies, ensuring resiliency, facilitating prompt post-earthquake recovery, and protecting the public during emergencies.
I know the value of having robust public infrastructure, providing the necessary foundation for our police and fire departments to guarantee swift response times. As a Public Works Director I have the skills and expertise to effectively implement the infrastructure needed to calm traffic and stop speeding on our streets.

ADVOCATING FOR TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNANCE

As a public servant, I put the needs of our community first by building trust through an open line of communication with residents.

As Chair of the Planning Commission, I facilitated a transparent public process, advocating for commissioners and staff to use everyday language instead of technical jargon to encourage meaningful public participation.

I diligently worked to dismantle barriers, such as expanding public notice requirements, including cultural and institutional formalities, to expand more effective public engagement.

PUTTING EDUCATION AND CHILDREN SAFETY FIRST

As an active PTA leader, I have focused on bringing programs, services and enrichment activities that benefit our children.

I have organized community playdates to foster connections among families and cultivate a supportive environment where children can develop lasting friendships and flourish.

I have served on the AUSD English Learner Advisory Committee to advocate resources targeted for children whose primary language is not English to advance equity in education.

As a Planning Commissioner, I have made sure that construction projects near school sites put in place measures to mitigate dust and noise, and prioritize safety of walkways during pickup and drop-off times.

PROTECTING TAXPAYER DOLLARS
As a department head in a city government, I protect taxpayer interests by responsibly managing an operating budget of $9.5 million annually, in addition to managing $52 million in capital improvement projects.

ENCOURAGING GREEN SPACE DEVELOPMENT
As an Alhambra Planning Commissioner, I ensured the City's Tree Ordinance was implemented and on-site trees were preserved when approving projects.

I advocated for more usable green space and tree shade when approving school projects. I voted for the creation and expansion of green spaces across our city.

SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESS SUCCESS
As a City Commissioner, I organized workshops to assist small business owners in navigating city processes, fostering stronger connections with municipal authorities, and accessing grants and services, particularly amidst the challenges during COVID, to sustain our businesses.

SUPPORTING SENSIBLE DEVELOPMENT
As an Alhambra Planning Commissioner, I opposed developments that are not aligned with the needs of the community and promoted sensible growth.

PROMOTING HOUSING AFFORDABILITY AND EQUITY

As an Alhambra Planning Commissioner, I helped pass the city’s first-ever Inclusionary Housing Ordinance (IHO) to expand housing affordability and equity across all income levels. By implementing the IHO, renters can access housing options proportional to their income levels, fostering a more equitable and inclusive living environment for all residents.

PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRACTICES
As Public Works Director, I lead efforts in implementing SB1383, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emission by recycling organic waste for businesses and residents.

I spearhead multimodal transportation initiatives, including implementing bike lanes where feasible.

I oversee the city's stormwater management efforts, focused on capturing and recycling rainwater to enhance local water resources. Additionally, in my role as an LA County Commissioner for the Safe Clean Water Program, I actively engage in stormwater infrastructure initiatives that promote a greener future and prioritize addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities.

SUPPORTING A MORE WALKABLE CITY
As a Planning Commissioner, I made walkability a priority to help create a safer and more vibrant Downtown Alhambra where both residents and businesses can thrive.
